Copper Valley English Shepherds
Sire: Over the Top White Oak's Truman
Date of birth: 10-22-2015
Registration: ESCR, UKC Hip screen: PennHIP .25/.17 Other testing: MDR1 - Normal/Normal CEA (clear); PRA/PRCD (Clear) Description: I chose Truman to sire Carly's first litter because of his solid temperament and sweet nature, his good looks, and his experience as a stud. This was Carly's first breeding and I didn't want to drive three hours each way with no results. I liked that one of his grandmothers is Becca, who I credit for Carly's Dam, Elise's calm, sweet, friendly, and brave nature. Truman's pedigree represents some of the best of Rebecca Wingler's breeding efforts and a nice compliment to Carly. Truman's owner reports he loves to spend time near her, like an English Shadow. Truman has done agility and had some herding exposure. He is a trim 66 pounds, and has an open face marking and a tricolor coat. Pedigree: Holdfast White Oak Logan x White Oak Glory Girl |
Dam: Copper Valley's Glory Be Carly
Date of birth: 07-15-2019
Registration: ESCR Hip screen: PennHIP .35/.36 Other testing: MDR1: Normal/Normal CEA, PRA/PRCD Normal/Clear Description: Carly was born here on my farm, the daughter of Elise and Laddie, both of whom are family members here. From three weeks on, Carly impressed me with her level of attentiveness to me, as well the details of any work going on. She would study how I started the car, hung a shade cloth, opened doors and gates...I especially appreciated her resilience in play with both her littermates and then my three adult English Shepherds. She has always seemed secure in who she is, no need to show any aggression to improve her status in the pack. She adjusts her play with the dog she is with, relishing in rough and tumble body slams with her sire, and more gentle play with her Dam. Carly is the most athletic dog I have ever had, or personally observed. Before her pregnancy, she was often airborne, leaping and climbing, tumbling and running. And at 9 weeks gestation, carrying at least 10 pups, I've still caught her leaping the 3 foot baby gate. She skims across the back of the couch like a cat. She shares her mother's bravery in guarding the farm, hunting. vermin control and alerting to birds of prey. Carly has grown up with goats, ducks and chickens, and many cats. Refraining from chasing cats has been her biggest challenge, but she has learned. She loves to go on feeding rounds, patrol the farm, and sit by my side. She has a lovely even temperament and has developed into a fine companion despite minimal training and guidance. Pedigree: Cedar Creek Lad, Copper's Light x Old Dance Into My Dream |

Litter born October 14, 2021
Eleven puppies born 10/13/21. I think there are 5 males, 6 females. Two clear sable girls, 1 shaded sable female, Tricolors, Seal coats and Black with white markings. Most pups have white muzzles and blazes. Some have full ruffs. All pups are raised in my home with later access to various sizes and types of yards. Pups are socialized with older English Shepherds, ducks, chickens, cats, and a variety of humans. Dam's gestational diet consisted of quality puppy kibble, chicken broth and DHA supplements for optimal neurological development. These dogs should be solid family companions, biddable and intelligent, with even temperaments. They should possess all the working traits of the English Shepherd: herding hunting, protecting, vermin control. and managing the home place. Both Carly and Truman come with solid pedigrees of working dogs. Many of Carly's siblings have gone on to do therapy work, agility, herding, and beloved family members.

- When did you have your first ES litter? 2016
- When did you acquire ES breeding stock? 2013
- Did you own ES before starting your breeding program? I bought my first English Shepherd, Elise, when she was 8 weeks old. In the contract, I agreed to breed her if her hips proved "good." Elise had her first litter in 2016 . Prior to this, I had never bred dogs of any type. During the 50's and 60's, I grew up with a beloved 'shepherd-collie mix, " "Cuddles," that looked and acted like an English Shepherd. She is why I recognized how wonderful English Shepherds were when I accidentally discovered them in 2013. The description of the breed exactly matched my beloved Cuddles. I continue to breed English Shepherds so that people will have an opportunity to have the pleasure of adopting one of these fine dogs. It scares me that I only stumbled across the breed by accident and might never have been able to have another dog like my original, beloved Cuddles"
