Giefer Ranch English Shepherds
Sire: Bard Giefer
Date of birth: April 8, 2013
Hip screen: OFA: Good
Other testing: MDR1 - Mutant/Normal
Description: Bard is a hard-working cattle dog who gets along well with cats, kids, horses, and loves everyone he meets. He works cattle on verbal or hand cues (because it is often too windy to be heard here on the Plains), keeps varmints away from the barn and corrals, thinks water is for drinking (not swimming!), rarely barks, and is always neat and tidy. He can run through a mudhole to chase a cow and come out caked in mud, but he has that ES characteristic of a self-cleaning coat. Two minutes after running through the mud, he looks like he just stepped out of the beauty parlor.
Pedigree: Cimarron King Biscuit x Foothills Toshi
Dam: Sybil's Daisy Doo
Date of birth: January 5, 2017
Hip screen: OFA: Good
Other testing: MDR1: Normal/Normal by Pedigree
Description: Daisy Doo is an energetic, loving, clear sable who is devoted to her family and warms to strangers. She is respectful of cats, chickens, and most other dogs. While she has not been used for livestock, she will alert me when livestock approaches from behind. Like all English shepherds, Daisy is "self-cleaning". She barks when anyone pulls in the drive, and she loves water - all water is bathing water - pond, tank, or water dish! Her only un-ES quirk is that she loves to bark at birds! She will sit under the highline for hours watching the birds perched above.

Breeder Info/Location/Contact Information:
- When did you have your first ES litter? 2016
- When did you acquire ES breeding stock? I got Bard in 2013 and fell in love with everything about him especially his work ethic. I later acquired Avon to start breeding. My daughter Sybil acquired Daisy after much research and a cross-country trip. Sybil is currently in college and has leased Daisy to me for breeding purposes.
- Did you own ES before starting your breeding program? Yes, I had Bard for a couple years before acquiring Avon. A couple years later, daughter Sybil acquired Daisy Doo for companionship and for her FFA project.
