Unlike most dog breeds, the English Shepherd is blessed with a breed organization -- The English Shepherd Club (ESC) -- which is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization operated for the purpose of breed conservation. The means by which the ESC accomplishes this objective include:
  • Educational publications;
  • Development and operation of a breed database and registry for population surveillance, research, and reporting;
  • Conduct of breed health and behavior surveys;
  • Facilitation of volunteer networks for purposes of breed conservation.
