Articles
The articles and links listed below are provided as a resource for
learning about various issues. There is no one "right"
way to raise or train a dog; what works best will depend on your
personality and abilities, those of your dog, and the circumstances
within which you are working. You will come across differences in
how issues are considered and managed in the articles below; find
what works for you (and file the rest away as food for thought,
in case your circumstances change).
Some
of the articles listed were written with specific reference to breeds
other than English Shepherds. While some issues are breed specific,
there are many others which have less to do with breed and more
to do with the particular personality of the dog in front of you
(which varies within breeds). The more you know about dogs in general,
the more tools you will have to work on the specific issues that
arise with your own dogs, in particular.
